Revolution News
9.7.10 We have been working on this owner's edit entitled "Who We Are" for the past 2 months now. The purpose for the edit is to show you exactly what Revolution is all about. Featuring how revolution first started, the reason we chose to move to Arizona, our dream of creating a real storefront for rollerblading, the importance of Thursday Night Skate, the Revolution Team, what skater owned means for us, and a lot more. This past saturday, Jon Jenkins and I wanted to film a clip for the "Who We Are" Edit at the Power Banks here in AZ. It was 110 Degrees, we grabbed a gallon of water and went for it anyways. Luckily, Ryan Daily met up as well to shoot some photos. By the end of it, we were all pretty beat. It turned into a fun session, and everyone got some deals. Read the full recap in the REV BLOG 9.1.10 Ryan Daily was one of the first names that came up when we were deciding who we wanted to feature for this year's Revolution 90 Second Edits. Daily's style is his own, and his humble demeanor makes you appreciate his skating even more. Daily also wasn't shy either in answering his 90 Second Profile Questions. He had the best quote: "Of all the things I'll do and become, I'll always be a rollerblader." 8.30.10 Amir Amadi just released his video "Strange Creatures" featuring Adam Brierley, Keith Brierley, Dean Coward, Dylan Davis, Matt Langel, Chris Tinsley, Micheal Garlinghouse, Matt Luda, and Alex Broskow. Amir also sent us some new colorways of the Strange Creatures custom dyed t-shirts. (more photos soon) Check out Amir's newest trailer for Strange Creatures and pre-book your copy here 8.28.10 The Roccity "Slash & Dash" AZ 2010 Documentary is finally released, Mike Torres did an amazing job with the edit. Mike is one of the best filmers/editors in rollerblading. We look forward to having the Roccity crew come and stay with us in Arizona each year. All of them are amazing individuals, and some of our closest friends. You couldn't find a better crew. Check out the "Slash & Dash" Edit here - enjoy! 8.25.10 Our good friend Mike Torres called me late last night saying he's uploading the "Slash & Dash" AZ 2010 Documentary to our revolution vimeo. We will premiere the edit this saturday on www.revolutionskate.com. The edit is truly amazing. Featuring Mike Torres, Grant Hazelton, Dan Birch, Mike Welland, Austin Paz, Steve Bruning, Justin Brasco, Tim Adams, Jason Reyna, Dan Barnes, Casey McFarland, James Johnson, and Gary Murphy. 8.24.10 The Vagabond Tour posted their weekly montage #4 edit on their website from August 16th-23rd, we linked the edit in our REV BLOG. We went out to film with Gabe & Taylor for a night. We hit up Tempe skatepark to warm-up, then we ended the night at the water ledge in phx. Check out their updates again on their website - www.vagabondtour.tumblr.com. Paz and his girlfriend Ashley have been staying with us this past week. They are planning on moving to Arizona this fall, and they came out to look around at apartments and enjoy the sun. We had a late night/last minute film session for Ryan Daily's 90 Seconds Edit last night with Austin. His roots are in NYC, but we're juiced to have be a part of our Arizona Scene. We have to find him some good pizza here that is slightly comparable to NYC's. 8.23.10 The USD ALL-Star Edit featuring Dustin Latimer and Kevin Gillan is now up - edited by Lonnie Gallegos. Filmed by Lonnie, Rachard Johnson, and Erick Rodriguez. It's sick to see Kevin and Dustin skating again. Both are enjoying themselves, and still killing it. I'm sure this edit will inspire quite a few skaters worldwide. Check out the USD ALL-STAR Edit - posted in the REV BLOG. The Vagabond Tour consists of 2 skaters - Gabe Holm and Taylor Green. They have driven coast to coast for the past month, hitting up skate spots and documenting different skate scenes along the way. They stopped thru Arizona for a couple days to skate. Gabe asked me to film some clips for his documentary, we had a pretty sick late night mission around PHX the night before they left. You can follow them on www.vagabondtour.tumblr.com. 8.18.10 The "Honey Baked" crew came out to shred Arizona for 2 weeks, filming for their upcoming video. We filmed a "Quick Hits" edit from a session at Tempe skatepark, featuring Dylan Davis, Brian Bina, Tinh Lee, Mike Dritlein, and Malcolm Heard. Check out the Honey Baked Quick Hits. Mike Dritlein is actually moving to Arizona. He arrives tonight from a 32 Hour Drive straight from Chicago to Arizona. 8.16.10 This year's SDSF Open went off, featuring an insane level of skating by the usual suspects. Aragon took 1st, followed by Haffey in 2nd, Roman Abrate in 3rd, and Shima took 4th. Our SDSF Open Quick Hits Edit features Revolution Team Rider Joey Chase- who was actually skating team rider John Bolino's new White NIMH Shaman skates for the comp. The Revolution Quick Hits Edit was filmed/edited by Jon Jenkins. 8.15.10 Brad's "TOP 5 Reasons to ride Remz", "TOP 5 Goliath Moments", "Top 5 MN Skaters", and more. Brad also won the "Wanna Skate 3" Street competition that went down in Minneapolis, MN. Brad was lacing all day in his new Remz HR 1.1's, but most notably he did an a/o soul 270 transfer kindgrind to a down rail to seal the deal. Congrats Brad! Check Brad's Top 5 here. Check out the Wanna Skate 3 Edit by Chris Duke - here. 8.13.10 Damien fully designed his 2nd pro skate, mainly featuring a new translucent cuff, which has a see thru smokey look to it. Damien's new footwrap also has a new clear gum sole that has a lion print graphic underneath. You can also see "Damien" printed on the skate throughout. I spoke to Damien this morning about his new pro skate, and he is juiced. He's working on some promo for Xsjado right now, so expect to see a new edit of him in the near future! Pysko stepped up and released a Jet Black Skinny Jean featuring stretch denim. They have a nice fit to them, and are made of 98% Cotton/2% Spandex, which is great for skating. Revolution Team Riders Damien Wilson and Casey McFarland are both on the Pysko Clothing Team, and will be rocking these new jeans by Psyko. Pick up your pair of Psyko Skinny Jeans here - support skater owned! 8.12.10 Josh Glowicki, Greg King, Fritz Peitzner, and Micah Simmang rep TEXAS. You can see their skating in Brian Mooore's upcoming video "The City that Never Sleeps" Greg King shoots photos of revolution team rider Jason Zwack, and is also featured in ONE. We got the chance to session last night. Greg shot some nice photos of Josh at the "water ledge." Expect to see more of these guys soon, they shred hard, and keep the TEXAS scene strong. 8.10.10 Not pictured was Adam Johnson who was still napping at my house from driving 10,000 miles so far on the "Straight Jacket Tour". Can't blame him. It was great having these guys at the shop, it was a quick day stop thru Arizona. The good news is they are coming back in November to skate when things "cool down" at bit in AZ. We're looking forward to seeing the end result from the tour! We wish them the best as well. 8.9.10 Bolino was chosen as the ONE "Skater of the Year", and will have the feature Interview in the next ONE #17 issue dropping in September. ONE will have a limited number of copies available at the SDSF Open going down this weekend in San Diego. Bolino also just made a quick visit at Revolution yesterday with the Straight Jacket Tour (photos soon). It was great to see him, he was juiced to see all his old buds. It's always nice to talk to Jeff, he's easily one of our favorite people. The last time he was at the shop was 5 years ago with the Heat Tour. I keep a lot of older magazines at the shop for younger skaters to learn the history of our sport. We had an old Box Magazine at the shop with one of Jeff's first photos featured in a magazine. "To Revolution, Thanks for everything you guys do for Blading" - Jeff Stockwell 8.5.10 Malcolm Heard, Dylan Davis, Bina, Mike Dritlein, and Tinh Lee are skating/filming in Arizona for a week. They are filming for their upcoming video called "Honey Baked" This is their first trip to Arizona, and Revolution. It's always good to see fresh up and coming skaters, they are the future for rollerblading. You can check out some "Honey Baked" throwaway footage posted in our REV BLOG. 8.4.10 Revolution Team Riders Joey Chase and Jeremy Spira spent a week with Shima, Matty Schrock, and Montre Livingston at Woodward West. Joey always gets loose in the gymnastics area, he has definitely stepped up his game this year. This year's edit was filmed/edited by our good friend Jason Reyna. Check out the NIMH Woodward West Edit in the REV BLOG. 8.3.10 The Straight Jacket Tour is stopping thru Arizona, and making an appearance at Revolution. The current tour lineup includes Chris Farmer, Billy O'Neill, Jeff Stockwell, John Bolino, Sean Kelso, Don Bambrick,, and Adam Johnson. Come meet and hang out at Revolution Skate Shop this sunday at 4:00 PM. Post Session TBA after. 8.2.10 Remz developed a new generation of skates which addresses the problem of many soft boots: the softening and loss of support after a while of use. The new Remz technology solves the issue by incorporating high end non-stretch composite materials into the fabric, which effectively eliminates stretching and give over time. The result is the NEW REMZ HR 1.1. Bolino is shredding a park in this edit, but, more importantly he is rocking some ill Gecko Shorts. Soo good. The NIMH South America Tour Edits are filmed and edited by our good friend Jero featured on BE-MAG. Bolino should be rolling thru AZ soon on the Vibralux/Star Tour soon! 8.1.10 We are proud to release Mathieu's 90 Second Edit, he is hands down one of the most talented individuals in rollerblading. Mathieu is humble, he doesn't expect anything from rollerblading. He only wishes to inspire others to go in their own direction with their skating after watching his. Check out Mathieu's 90 Second Edit + Interview - he is also the first rollerblader to drop Love Bowl! 7.30.10 Revolution Team Riders Joey Chase and Jeremy Spira spent a week at Woodward West with Brian Shima, Matty Schrock and Montre Livingston. Spira said NIMH Week was awesome, and they skated hard everyday filming for this year's edit. Last year's NIMH Woodward Edit was insane, Joey did some wild transfers. This year's will be even better! Check out more photos from NIMH Week posted on Rat-Tail. 7.26.10 2 of our good friends, Jon Jenkins and Sergio Ybarra surprised us by setting up a special TNS Tempe Competition. Every competitor made a donation to give back to the shop. They set it up as a way to say "thank you" to us. It was really awesome. Skating by Mike French, Derek French, Dustin Latimer, Luke Kimberly, Kenny Scherf, Andrew Scherf, Xathan Stewart, J.Davis, Texas Derek, Chris Phillips, Ryan Daily, and more! 7.23.10 Casey is a powerhouse, he came thru with this fresh edit for his clothing sponsor Psyko. They are Jet Black Stretch Denim - 98% Cotton / 2% Spandex, available in sizes 32x34, 34x34, 36x34. Keep checking back, we will have the Psyko Jeans in-stock soon! 7.21.10 Aragon did an interview, and laced a few tricks at the Esco Park for ABC NEWS 10 in San Diego. Exposure like this is great for rollerblading, and having Aragon present it for us like he did is ideal. Check out the full interview posted in the REV BLOG with a direct link to his interview. Also, you can see Aragon in the upcoming Razor Team Video "GAME THEORY". Be sure to purchase your video premiere tickets for GAME THEORY online. 7.19.10 NIMH WEEK just started out at Woodward West. His roots are definitely in Florida, but he wanted a change, AZ was the spot for him. Bill jumped on a greyhound bus for a 3 Day Trip across the US. During at which time his skates got stolen. So, yesterday, we fronted him some new Bambricks to get back skating again. Bill is flow for RAZORS and also M1 Urethane, so it's all good. DENIAL just released a new line of urethane. All pro wheels are 59mm, with a nice round profile. Revolution team rider John Bolino got his wheel re-released in black urethane. Montre Livingston released his pro wheel in red urethane. Wild Bill is also an M1 Flow Rider, we're sure he's already rocking these new wheels. 7.6.10 Our good friend Jon Jenkins spent 2 weeks filming/skating in Bama. Those guys are on top of it, building their own spots, creating trick lists, and making their skating look the best it can be. Bama is a staple for rollerblading. The trip was successful, we got a good start on some future 90 Second Edits. Check out the Revolution Sticker posted on Dunkle's microwave. We set out in Arizona's famous summer heat - I believe it was 113 degrees...." - Troyer 6.18.10 Guillame Roy aka "G-King" came out to skate Arizona last April with Mathieu Ledoux. The cool thing about Guilaume is he runs a real skate shop called "Lylac" in Montreal. He is another skater owned skate shop, supporting his local scene, and promoting rollerblading. Respect. Guillaume is a great person. He also is the key organizer for the Montreal Classic every year. The MTL Classic is taking place this weekend, check www.montrealclassic.com. 6.17.10 Rodney hit me up last night telling me he had a 6 Hour Layover today in Phoenix. He's on his way from Los Angeles heading up to visit his home state of Alaska. I picked up Rod at the airport, he got to hang out for the day, see some old friends, check out some 90 Second Footage, and kick it at the shop. Always good to see Rod. You'll be able to see Rodney real soon in "Green" by Lonnie Gallegos. Damien skates for Psyko Clothing company based out of NYC, owned by skater Josh Diaz. Nick Wood filmed/edited this for Damien. Last night, Mason was shredding at our Thursday Night Skate session. Look for him to be featured in our next "TNS Quick HIts" Edit coming soon. This edit features Brad hitting up street spots around his hometown of Duluth, MN. It is a promotion edit for the REMZ Haffey 2.0 skates. It was filmed and edited by Brad's homie "Money Mike." It's good to see Brad ripping, check it out here posted in our REV BLOG. 6.9.10 We hit up Mesa Skatepark the other night, it's one of the only parks in AZ that allows bikes into the park. DL is really good at BMX, not just cruising the park, he kills it, he does grinds, the whole bit. DL takes his son Life with him to Mesa skatepark to ride bmx as well, father/son session. Dustin put on his skates after the bmx session, and did a few tricks. Blading is natural for Dustin, it's good to see him skating again. The "Straight Jacket Tour" is a combination of Vibralux and Street Artist team riders, all traveling together to skate/film on a 6 week tour spread across the US. After being around him for the past 2 days, getting to know him better, it's clear to see why he's so successful. If you by chance haven't seen Mathieu's skating - Please Click Here. Mathieu is on a whole different level, he's humble, and knows exactly what he wants out of skating. It's simple, he wants to have fun... that's it. More to come, stay tuned. 4.15.10 For close to 2 years now, Mathieu and I have been talking about him coming out to skate Arizona. However, due to his busy schedule as a professional stuntman, (appearing in numerous movies you've probably seen) he finally got some free-time for the trip! Mathieu arrives on Monday (4/19) and is staying with us until May 2nd. We're looking forward to having Mathieu here in Arizona. Stay tuned. Joey's Sequence was shot by Jero here in Arizona. Joey laced up a soul to gap at a kink rail at ASU. No one has touched that rail since. You can check out the Joey's sequence here. We're incorporating a new "lightbox" feature with the revolution site. Expect to see more features coming soon, let us know what you think! 4.13.10 ONE interviewed Revolution Team Rider Joey Chase for their print Issue #15. JE conducts their interviews via video chat, puts skaters on the spot, but it's more real this way. Joey talks about growing up skating in Florida, what drives him to skate, favorite places he's travelled, his grime status, skating for Shima, and more. Check out Joey's Interview Here. 4.12.10 Nemo has an interview on BE-MAG - where he talks about Arizona. "I'd have to say that going to Arizona over winter break was one of the best times of my life. Phoenix is the best place to shred, in my opinion. The kids learn so fast because of the huge blade scene there. There were these two kids I met, Xathan Stewart and Alec Gentile, that have been blading for only 2 years and kill it like they have been skating for 6 years." 4.10.10 Joey turns 23 Years Old today. Luck is on Joey's side also for Florida's Panhandle Pow Wow also taking place today. All of Florida is hyped for this event. This year the Pow Wow is a WRS Qualifier Event as well. It's going down in Pensacola, FL. Stay tuned for updates. Zwack is lacing a launch to wallride in Texas. Zwack actually flew over his good friend Greg King, who shot the photo. It's great to see Jason receive exposure like this consistently. Check out Jason's photo here. 4.8.10 "I wish i had more time in Arizona. We skated everyday into the night for the whole week i was there and it just wasn't enough time. Cool people, amazing spots that you can only find out there, best concrete parks and great weather. There's not much else you need. I'm looking forward to coming back soon for a longer stay. Thanks to James, Gretchen, JB and John B for having us, it was really cool." - FISH 4.6.10 Spira filmed this fresh park edit for a new website called www.scumpire.com. "He's a bad mamma jamma. He's a huge Star Wars fan and has light sabers on a gun rack in his home. He'll put you up for a place to sleep. He's married to an awesome woman Sessy Spira who is loving, wonderful, caring....." Be sure to check out www.scumpire.com for all the latest updates. 3.31.10 Todd is one of our favorite people, he's not as crazy as most probably think from his videos. His approach to living his life is inspiring, and his skating speaks for itself. Check out his online interview posted on BE-MAG, click here to read about his approach to skating, his juggling obsession, Mushroom Blading Vol.2, being a perfectionist, and more. We had a great time during his visit to Arizona, and we hope to see Todd again soon. 3.27.10 Sean Kelso, Colin Kelso, Billy O'Neill, Sean Cullen, and Steve Iacono came out to skate Arizona over their spring break. They met up with new AZ resident John Bolino. We skated everyday, sessioning spots all over the valley, most lasting late into the night. One night the session lasted until 4 AM. It was a lot of fun having everyone out here in Arizona. The edit is amazing, "teetans" for sure. 3.26.10 March marks our 3 Year Anniversary for our Revolution Thursday Night Skate Sessions. Our good friend Jon Jenkins filmed/edited this "Quick Hits" edit from the Remz Haffey 2.0 Tour Revolution/Arizona Stop that went down last week. "Thank you to all the skaters who've supported our Thursday Night Skate Sessions. You make it what it is, we do this for you and for rollerblading." 3.24.10 Zwack has been keeping a low-profile lately, working full-time, paying his own bills, and managing to skate as much as possible on the side. ONE featured JZ in an online interview. Check it out on - www.believeinone.com. "Feeling like a ninja on wheels is what I'm about. I brush all the insider politicking aside and just roll." 3.23.10 Revolution Team Rider Joey Chase just received his 3rd Pro Wheel by M1, this time featuring new Orange Urethane. Joey's New wheel also features a new profile, featuring a stable flat profile. Joey is heading to Santee in April, to skate/film for a month with Damien Wilson. We'll be heading out to see Joey for a weekend when he's in Santee, stay tuned. 3.20.10 Kato posted this update on www.be-mag.com - featuring a recap of the tour stop to Revolution, our Thursday Night Skate Session, and a quick edit as well. "No better way to start this tour than at the legendary Revolution Thursday Night Skate in Phoenix: the shop is a skater's dream ran by dedicated owners (James and Gretchen) where you know you'll always end up meeting bladers from all around Arizona & beyond...." 3.19.10 STAR just released a completely new line of wheels, featuring the Billy O'Neill (58/90), Rachard Johnson (58/89), and the Colin Kelso (55/92). In conjunction with AEND and UC, STREET ARTIST brings you a new compound that reduces wear and core stretching. Poured right here in America, this proven formula is just the beginning of where STREET ARTIST will be headed this year. Support. REMZ Owner Kato and Chris Haffey came out to Revolution yesterday to promote the new REMZ HAFFEY 2.0. First, everyone met up at Revolution, and Kato bought pizza for everyone at the shop. Then we headed to our Revolution Thursday Night Skate. The session went off last night, really amazing. Thank you to Kato & Haffey for making it happen. 3.16.10 CO just released their new line of frames, featuring all new Pro Graphics, and the release of their 2 New Pro Riders: Chris Farmer & Alex Broskow Pro Frames. John Bolino had his good friend JStone design his new "Crumble" Pro Graphic. JStone is also the skater who designed our Revolution Stencils. Check out all the new frames here. 3.15.10 Sean Sea came out to skate Arizona with one of his INRI team riders Billy O'Neill. Sean also brought out his dog Firby, he goes with Sean every where. Funniest part is heading into skate a school, we hand over all the camera gear over the fence, all the lights, and we have to hand Firby over also. Everyone loves Firby. Sean killed it all week, it was good having him visit Revolution/Arizona. 3.12.10 Kato (remz owner) and Chris Haffey are coming out to session Arizona and skate our Revolution Thursday Night Skate at Thunderbird Skatepark. You can see Haffey skating his latest pro REMZ that was just released - the REMZ HAFFEY 2.O - the new low-cut remz. Check back for more details and session info soon! 3.9.10 This Friday (3/12) at Revolution Skate Shop - Video Starts at 7:00 PM. Todd and Joey sent us a nice premiere copy of their latest project. Mushroom Blading V2 is a "tour video" - it turned out pretty awesome to say the least. Revolution Premiere featuring special guests John Bolino, Billy O'Neill, Alf, The Kelsos, and Sean Cullen. See you Friday! 3.8.10 Colin Kelso, Sean Kelso, Steve "Alf" Iacono, and Billy "Fish" O'Neill decided they had enough of the cold east coast and came out to skate Arizona for a week. They're looking forward to skating in our warm weather, and hitting up our AZ spots. You can session with these guys at this week's Revolution Thursday Night Skate. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the week. - RYAN DAILY 90 SECOND EDIT -90 SECONDS/DAILY/SEPTEMBER/2010 from Revolution Skateshop on Vimeo. - REVOLUTION NEWS -revolution news 9.7.10
